Tinubu Meets ECOWAS President And African Leaders In Aso Rock [Photos]

President Bola Tinubu hosted a delegation of African heads of state at the presidential villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

The distinguished heads of state in attendance were Umaro Emabalo, the president of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau; Patrice Talon, the president of the Republic of Benin; and Bazoum Mohamed, the president of the Republic of Niger.

During the meeting, Tinubu also engaged in discussions with Dr Omar Aheu Touray, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, at the State Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

A statement released by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, highlighted that the meeting primarily focused on the outcomes of the recent ECOWAS Summit.

The summit resulted in the establishment of an ECOWAS Presidential Taskforce (TROIKA+1), consisting of Benin, Guinea-Bissau, and Nigeria, with the support of Niger.

Olusegun said the taskforce aims to address the security challenges following the withdrawal of the United Nations MINUSMA mission.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu had announced plans to strengthen the ECOWAS Standby Force to deter coups and combat terrorism in the sub-region.
