The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hailed the Super Falcons for their effort despite the painful defeat of the team to England in a penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 game on Monday.

England trashed Nigeria 4-2 on penalties on Monday to reach the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup after their last-16 tie finished 0-0 at the end of extra time.

In a tweet on its official handle on Monday afternoon, the NFF told the falcons that the country is proud of them.

The football body told the team that the “journey doesn’t end here,” assuring it that “We have more beautiful chapters to write.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has equally praised the Super Falcons’s effort despite their painful defeat to England.

The president said the team’s brilliant effort did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome.

According to him, the Falcons made Nigeria proud on the global stage.
