Abba Yusuf Heads To Supreme Court After Being Sacked As Kano Governor

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has announced his decision to challenge the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal at the Supreme Court.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Court of Appeal in Abuja had affirmed the verdict of the Kano State governorship election petition tribunal, which nullified Yusuf’s victory as the governor.

Addressing the people of the state on Saturday,  Yusuf expressed dissatisfaction with both the tribunal and the Court of Appeal decisions, describing them as a “miscarriage of justice.”

The governor expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will rectify what he sees as a miscarriage of justice and reaffirm the mandate bestowed upon him by the people of Kano.

“I want to inform the good people of Kano and indeed well-meaning Nigerians that based on the consensus of our stakeholders, we have instructed our lawyers to commence the process of appealing this judgement at the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“We are optimistic that the supreme court will by the grace of Allahu SWT set aside these miscarriages of justice by the tribunal and the appeal Courts, and reaffirm our mandate given by the good people of Kano state,” he said.

Despite the legal challenges, Governor Yusuf urged residents to continue their lawful activities, assuring them that security measures have been implemented to safeguard lives and property.

He emphasized that this “temporary setback” will not hinder his administration from pursuing ongoing “laudable projects.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had sacked Abba Kabir Yusuf, declaring Nasir Gawuna as winner of the March 18 election.
