Appeal Court Affirms Governor Oborevwori’s Win in Delta, Rejects Appeals from Omo-Agege, Ken Pela

The Court of Appeal in Lagos delivered a unanimous judgment on Friday, affirming Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s victory in the March 18 poll in Delta State.

The appeal, brought by the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, was dismissed for lacking merit.

Recall that the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba had on September 29, upheld Oborevwori as the winner of the March 18, governorship election.

Despite the setback, Omo-Agege filed an appeal at the appellate court, challenging the judgment of the election petition tribunal.

In its judgment on Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld Oborevwori’s election and dismissed Omo-Agege’s appeal for lacking in merit.

The appellate court affirmed the decision of the lower tribunal. In a separate judgment, the tribunal dismissed the appeal by Kenneth Gbaji of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), APC, and Labour Party (LP) along with their respective governorship candidates.

Similarly, in a separate judgment, the appellate court rejected the appeal brought by the Labour Party (LP) and its gubernatorial candidate, Ken Pela, challenging the lower tribunal judgment, upholding the election of Oborevwori.

Kanyi Daily recalls that Sheriff Oborevwori had been declared winner of the governorship election in Delta State.
