The police showed hotel security footage from September 7, 1996, in which several men are seen kicking and punching the suspect’s late nephew, which led to the singer being shot in retaliation as he was waiting in his car at a red light.
Shakur died in the hospital six days later, at the age of 25.
Davis, however, denied the charge of murder during a court hearing in Las Vegas on Thursday.
When District Judge Tierra Jones asked Davis to enter a plea, he replied, “Not guilty.”
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson stated following the hearing, “We talked about it, and I determined that it’s not a case in which we should seek the death penalty.”
“It doesn’t matter that the entire world is watching. “What we care about is presenting the evidence to a jury, so the jury can make the final decision,” he told the Review-Journal.
