“I Grew Up Hearing Nigeria Will Get Better” – Ayo Makun Laments Poor State Of The Nation

Nigerian comedian, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has expressed frustration with the persistent narrative of “Nigeria will get better”, a phrase he grew up hearing and still hears in his fifties.

In an Instagram post, AY questioned the reality of progress in Nigeria, highlighting the Groundhog Day-like experience where despite appearances of change, the fundamental issues persist.

The comedian pondered the economic challenges, pointing out that many people lack wages that are adequate to cover the basic cost of living in Nigeria.

His comments reflect a sense of disillusionment with the prolonged struggles and a desire for tangible improvement in the country.

“Nigeria go better us what one grew up hearing. I’m still hearing it in my fifties. What kind of Groundhog Day existence do we live in in this country though? The more things seem to change, they remain the same.

How many of us do have wages more than sufficient enough to cover the bare cost of living in Nigeria?”,” he asked.

KanyiDaily recalls that AY’s wife, Mabel Makun also lamented the challenges facing Nigeria, particularly the negative impact of the exchange rate on businesses.
