Haanongon, along with his Personal Assistant on Administration, Silas Yuhwam, driver, and orderly, was reportedly abducted in the early hours of Saturday.
The Secretary of the Council, Jonathan Modi, revealed the incident in a statement, stating that it took place on Saturday morning along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala LGA at about 6:30 am.
“The Chairman was kidnapped alongside his orderly, PA, and driver on their way to attend the burial of the paramount Ruler of the LG, the Ter Katsina Ala, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo,” Modi said in the statement
Modi urged residents to stay calm and law-abiding as efforts are underway to secure the chairman’s freedom.
The Benue State Police Command has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
