He is said to have drowned the infant in a canal, Magistrate Mrs. O. O. Ogunkanmi, citing jurisdictional constraints, did not entertain Oludele’s plea and has referred the case file to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal guidance
The matter has been adjourned until March 4 for mention by Ogunkanmi.
Oludele was arraigned before the court by the police on a three-count charge of impersonation, abduction, and murder
In earlier proceedings, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, the prosecuting counsel, informed the court that Oludele committed the offense on December 28, 2023, at His Mercy Hospital, Akinyele, Ibadan
She stated that the imposter doctor took the baby boy delivered from his mother in the hospital without her consent and drowned him in a canal
Adedeji also informed the court that Oludele falsely presented himself to the mother as a qualified doctor to defraud her and other members of the public.
She mentioned that the offenses violated the Criminal Codes of Oyo State (2000) and were subject to punishment, including three years of imprisonment for impersonation, 14 years for abduction, and the death penalty for murder.
