Nyesom Wike’s Wife Eberechi Promoted To Appeal Court As CJN Ariwoola Approves 22 New Judges

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kayode Ariwoola has approved the promotion of 22 judges to the Appeal Court.

Among the newly promoted judges is Justice Eberechi Wike, wife of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

It was gathered that the selection process was rigorous, with only 22 judges out of 89 nominees chosen to fill available positions.

CJN Ariwoola approved the promotions on April 2, 2024, and the list has been forwarded to President Bola Tinubu for appointment.

The list of newly appointed justices, obtained by the People’s Gazette, reflects a diverse selection from various states and federal high courts across the six geopolitical zones.

Representatives from the North-Central region include Justices Polycarp Tema Kwahar, Ruqayat Ayoola, Eneche Eleojo, Asmara Akanbi Yusuf, Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, and Abdu Dogo.

The North-East region has one representative, Justice Fadahu Umaru, from Borno State.

In the North-West region, Justices Ishaq Mohammed Sani, Zainab Bage Abubakar, and Abdulaziz M. Ankara were appointed.

The South-East region saw the promotion of Justices Nnamdi Okwy Dimga Victoria, Toochukwu Nwoye, Henry Aja-Onu Njoku, Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo, and Ngozika N Okaisabor.

Representatives from the South-South region include Justices Ntong Festus Ntong, Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi, and Eberechi Suzette Wike.

Lastly, the South-West region saw the appointment of Justices Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo, Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi, Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola, and Bayo Ademola Taiwo.

KanyiDaily recalls that Eberechi Wike recently recommended amputation for people found guilty of defiling minors.
