House Of Reps Leaders Visit Dangote Refinery [Photos]

The leadership of the House of Representatives on Saturday visited the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas led the delegation to the refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, arriving around 11 am.

The lawmakers were welcomed by Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, along with top executives of the refinery.

The delegation included Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere.

The lawmakers planned to tour the refinery, which processes 650,000 barrels of oil per day, including stops at the crude oil extraction point, the product loading bay, and the fertilizer plant.

This visit is the second by federal lawmakers to the refinery in two months and comes as the refinery prepares to start supplying petrol next month.

In June, Senate President Godswill Akpabio led a Senate tour of the refinery, praising the project and offering support.

Dangote Refinery is facing challenges from international oil companies trying to restrict its access to crude oil.

KanyiDaily recalls that Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), cautioned Nigerians against relying too heavily on products from the Dangote refinery.
