Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, has been released by her kidnappers.

Joan Onyemaechi, who is also a former Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, was freed late Friday night.

It was gathered that the former lawmaker arrived in the Delta State capital and went to an undisclosed hospital.

Earlier, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N1 billion, but it’s unclear if that amount was paid for her release.

Delta State Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed her release but didn’t provide further details.

Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor, known as ‘Ada Anioma,’ was kidnapped on July 30 from her church in Asaba.

During the abduction, a police aide and another person were killed, and others were injured.

KanyiDaily recalls that Comedian Sabinus’s father was recently abducted by gunmen who killed a security operative during the attack.
