Obi Cubana, famous for the highly publicized funeral, told media personality Chude Jideonwo that no one in his family had lived up to 80 years.
According to him, his late father died at 66, his grandfather at 78, and his father’s brother at 75.
Obi Cubana said he wanted his mother to break this pattern and celebrated her birthday every year with hope.
Unfortunately, his mother passed away at nearly 79. Despite this, the businessman and his siblings, who had been saving for her funeral, decided to honor her with an exceptional burial.
He said, “In my family, I am saying it for the first time: nobody has lived up to 80.
“My father died at 66, my father’s brother died at 75, my grandfather died at 78, and I told my mum, you will break this. I told her to break it if it’s a generational curse or something.
“I promised her that for the burial I would throw for her, nobody would break, and we started saving up for that.
“I think she died on 31st December; she was 78 and a half, and we were all looking forward to her 80th birthday. But what happened happened, so let’s celebrate her. At least she almost broke it”.
KanyiDaily recalls that Obi Cubana recently urged bloggers to stop giving attention to young people who disrespect elders on social media.
