Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Sent To Jail As Court Rejects His $50 Million Bail Request

American rapper, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been remanded in prison after his $50 million bail was turned down.

The 54-year-old rapper was taken into custody to await trial after pleading not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution during a court hearing on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

Diddy had requested that New York Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky allow him to stay out of jail while awaiting trial.

According to a letter obtained by E! News, Diddy proposed a $50 million bond, co-signed by his family, including his mother, Janice Combs, sister, Keisha Combs, and three of his sons.

The proposal also included equity from Combs’ Miami home and his mother’s home, and would have restricted his travel to specific areas in Florida, New York, and New Jersey.

The letter, signed by Combs’ lawyers Marc Agnifilo and Teny R. Geragos, argued that Diddy had demonstrated trustworthiness and commitment to proving his innocence.

It highlighted that Combs had traveled from Miami to New York voluntarily, even before formal charges were filed.

It stated: “These actions prove that Mr. Combs is eminently trustworthy, that he is demonstrably committed to showing his innocence in Court in the context of this case, and that he should be released, on the conditions proposed, in order to do so…

“When it became apparent to his counsel that Mr. Combs would at some point soon be formally charged, he did something extraordinary: He left his home in Miami and travelled to New York, the very location of the prosecutors and agents investigating him.”

However, prosecutors argued that Combs should remain in jail, calling him a flight risk and a significant danger to the community.

They claimed that his history of substance abuse and violent behavior made him unsuitable for bail.

The judge denied the bail request, and the next court hearing is scheduled for September 25.

Diddly has pledged to contest the charges against him.

KanyiDaily recalls that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting people for prostitution.
