The Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor on Television and Radio, Alhaji Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa, said the armed men kidnapped Bala in his hometown, shot him, and left him critically injured on Wednesday.
Bako Bala was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi but sadly died from his gunshot wounds.
In a separate incident, bandits reportedly kidnapped another person in Matseri village, Bunza Local Government Area, and shot a young man, who is now being treated at the same medical center in Birnin Kebbi.
Attempts to reach the spokesperson for Kebbi State Police, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for comment were unsuccessful.
Kebbi State has seen a rise in kidnappings for ransom recently, despite efforts by security forces, supported by the state government, to combat criminal activities and rescue hostages.
KanyiDaily had also reported how Gunmen kidnapped more than 20 medical and dental students, along with a house officer, in Benue State.
