Donald Trump Leads Kamala Harris In US Presidential Election 2024

Republican candidate, Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 United States presidential election.

As at Wednesday morning, Trump had secured more Electoral College votes than Harris, with Trump leading in 20 states and earning 198 electoral votes, while Harris was ahead in 10 states with 109 votes.

The Republican candidate took states including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Meanwhile, the Democrat candidate claimed Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Colorado.

Early results showed Trump capturing Georgia, an important swing state, as both candidates sought the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.

At the White House, President Joe Biden was making congratulatory calls to Democrats who had won their races, including Delaware Senator-elect Lisa Blunt Rochester, whom he met with before voting,

The president also called Delaware Governor-elect Matt Meyer, Wilmington Mayor and former Governor John Carney, New Jersey’s Governor-elect Representative Andy Kim, and North Carolina’s Governor-elect Attorney General Josh Stein.

Kamala Harris was in Washington, D.C., at her alma mater Howard University, watching the election results with supporters.

A win for Harris would make her the first U.S. president who graduated from a historically Black college or university (HBCU).

“I am ready to be the next president,” she told supporters at Howard.

Donald Trump is open to accepting defeat, but with conditions.

As he cast his ballot in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump stated that he would acknowledge the results if he lost, wearing his signature “Make America Great Again” hat.

He expressed confidence in respecting a fair election outcome but raised concerns about potential delays in Pennsylvania’s vote count, calling them “an absolute outrage” and hinting at legal action if counting continued for days.

Trump emphasized his commitment to election integrity and said he would accept the results if he believed the process was fair.

His statements highlighted the ongoing tension in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state, where both campaigns were preparing for a possible extended vote count.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Joe Biden previous called for Donald Trump to be “locked up” just two weeks before the 2024 US presidential election.
