The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Director, Margaret Adeseye.
According to her, the fire was reported around 5:30 pm, prompting the agency to dispatch firefighters from Dolphin and Ebute Elefun Fire Stations as the first responders.
Adeseye said the fire was intense due to the materials used in the studio’s construction.
However, authorities assured the public that the fire was contained within the studio, due to the joint efforts of the Lagos Fire Service, the Federal Fire Service, the Nigerian Police, and other emergency responders.
Margaret Adeseye added that no casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) also confirmed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), urging motorists to avoid the area as emergency teams worked to extinguish the fire.
LASTMA stated, “Ikoyi Fire Accident. Radio Nigeria is on fire while fire fighters are already on the ground to put out the fire.
“Meanwhile all the roads have been blocked for motorists to go through alternative routes.”
KanyiDaily had also reported how fire swept through a market in the Ajah area of Lagos, destroying numerous shops and goods valued at millions of naira.
