Upon landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday, Steinmeier was welcomed by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
The German president’s visit, which runs until December 12, 2024, includes several key engagements. He has already met with President Tinubu and inspected the Guard of Honour.
Steinmeier is also set to hold discussions with Alieu Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, among others.
After his engagements in Abuja, the German President will head to Lagos, where he plans to interact with business leaders, explore a start-up hub, and connect with notable figures in Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors, including Dr. Nike Okundaye and Prof. Wole Soyinka.
While in Lagos, Steinmeier will also take a tour of the city, gaining insights into its urban development challenges, including environmental and social issues, as part of his broader diplomatic visit.
