On Thursday, January 23, the appellate court upheld the decision of the Osun State High Court, which had sentenced Ramon Adedoyin to death.
“The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part,” the court ruled.
However, the appeal court overturned some aspects of the lower court’s judgment, including the forfeiture of Hilton Hotel and the order requiring Adedoyin to fund the education of Adegoke’s children.
The court stated it lacked the authority to enforce penalties outside statutory provisions.
Timothy Adegoke’s death in November 2021 was linked to Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, where he had checked in but went missing after two days.
His body was discovered days later, prompting an investigation that implicated Ramon Adedoyin and others.
In May 2023, Adedoyin and his co-defendants were convicted of murder and conspiracy to murder, receiving death sentences.
Unhappy with the ruling, Adedoyin appealed the conviction, seeking to overturn the verdict.
However, on Thursday, the Court of Appeal reaffirmed the guilty verdict and death sentence.
KanyiDaily had reported how Osun State High Court sentenced Rahmon Adedoyin, to death by hanging for the murder of Timothy Adegoke in 2022.
