Lazio finished at the top of the table on goal difference, despite a 1-0 loss to Braga on the final matchday.
Meanwhile, Manchester United and Tottenham secured last-16 spots despite their struggles in the Premier League. Rangers and Olympiacos also squeezed into the top eight on the final day.
The race for qualification was tight, with Rangers, Bodo/Glimt, Anderlecht, and FCSB all finishing with 14 points. However, Rangers edged out the competition with a superior goal difference of +6.
Similarly, PAOK, FC Twente, and Fenerbahce barely made the cut for the knockout stage, finishing level on 10 points alongside Braga and Elfsborg but advancing due to goal difference.
Now, the competition moves into the play-off round, where teams will battle for a place in the last 16.
The draw for the Round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals is set for February 21st after the play-off round concludes.
The final will be held at San Mamés in Bilbao on May 21st at 21:00 CET. The stadium previously hosted the 2024 Women’s Champions League final and will now be the venue for one of Europe’s most prestigious club competitions.
KanyiDaily also reported that Defending champions Real Madrid will take on 2023 winners Manchester City in the standout fixture of the Champions League play-off round following Friday’s draw.
