The appointments were announced in approval letters signed by Ado Muhammad, the council secretary, who described the move as part of the chairman’s strategy to advance the local government.
The letter, dated January 6, stated: “Sequel to the efforts of the Honourable Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government to promote and develop the local government area.
“I wish to convey the approval for the appointment of the following prominent individuals to various roles across different fields and professions.”
Among the appointees are 18 media aides tasked with managing departments, markets, and primary healthcare centers within the area.
Other positions include executive assistants, chief details, public affairs officers, chief protocol officers, principal personnel secretaries, and eight director generals, among others.
Yusuf Imam previously served as a special adviser on youth and sports to Governor Abba Yusuf but was dismissed in September 2023 after making controversial remarks about Vice President Kashim Shettima.
At the same time, the commissioner for land and physical planning, Adamu Aliyu, was also fired for issuing death threats to judges on the state’s governorship election tribunal.
However, both men were reinstated months later—Aliyu returned to his position in March, while Imam was reappointed in April.
Yusuf Imam eventually secured his current role as the council chairman of Nasarawa Local Government.
Meanwhile, Kano State Hisbah is set to intensify its crackdown on betting shops following a Supreme Court ruling that clarified the regulation of gambling as a state-level responsibility.
