Sanwo-Olu Hails Moro Ojomo For Winning His First Super Bowl With Philadelphia Eagles

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised Morotoluwa Ojomo, a Nigerian-born American football player, for his remarkable achievement in winning the Super Bowl.

On Sunday, February 9, the Philadelphia Eagles secured a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, held in New Orleans.

This triumph marked the Eagles’ second Super Bowl win and ended the Chiefs’ hopes of making history with a third consecutive NFL championship.

Moro Ojomo played a key role in the Eagles’ defensive success, making two tackles and a crucial tackle for loss.

His efforts helped shut down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ high-powered offense, keeping them from scoring for almost three quarters. His performance was instrumental in securing the Eagles’ dominant victory.

Reacting to the win, Sanwo-Olu took to X on Monday to congratulate Ojomo, who was born in Lagos, for his incredible journey from Nigeria to the NFL.

Moro Ojomo was born in Lagos in 2001 before relocating to California with his family at the age of seven. He entered the NFL in 2023 as the 11th draft pick, joining the Eagles as a defensive tackle.

With this victory, Ojomo joins the ranks of Nigerian-born NFL champions, including C.J. Uzomah, Chukwuebuka Godrick, Chris Oladokun, and Charles Omenihu.
