A tense moment unfolded at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday when Governor Siminalayi Fubara arrived, only to find the entrance gates locked.
According to Channels TV, eyewitnesses said that security personnel at the complex shut the gates just as the governor’s convoy approached.
It was gathered that the reason the their action was because there had been no official communication regarding the governor’s visit.
However, Fubara countered this claim, stating that he had formally notified the Speaker Martins Amaewhule through a letter.
The governor also received that he had attempted to reach the Speaker by phone since Tuesday but received no response.
KanyiDaily recalls that Rivers APC recently demanded that Governor Siminalayi Fubara resign from office within 48 hours or face impeachment by the State House of Assembly.
