Kogi Jailbreak: Three Escaped Inmates Captured As NCoS Confirms Officer’s Death

The Acting Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Sly Nwakuche, has confirmed that an officer was killed during a jailbreak at the Koton Karfe Correctional Centre in Kogi State.

KanyiDaily recalls that 12 inmates escaped from the facility early on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the prison, Nwakuche revealed that security forces had recaptured three of the fugitives while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the rest.

He expressed regret over the loss of the officer and assured that the remaining escapees would be tracked down and returned to custody.

Nwakuche urged the public to assist security agencies by providing any useful information that could help locate the remaining fugitives.

KanyiDaily had reported how the Department of State Services (DSS) killed a one-time jailbreaker and notorious gang leader, Kabir Bala, popularly known as “Okwo” in Ejule, Ofu LGA of Kogi State.
