“I Bear No Grudge Over Okowa’s Defection To APC, I’m Not Leaving PDP” – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said he is not upset about Ifeanyi Okowa, his running mate in the 2023 election, joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ifeanyi Okowa had recently stated that he regretted agreeing to run as Atiku’s vice-presidential candidate, saying it didn’t align with the feelings of his people.

He also revealed that during the campaign, he realized that his people weren’t in favor of another northerner rising to power.

Atiku responded through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, saying that it’s undemocratic to hold a grudge against someone for choosing their political affiliation.

Former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, bears no grudges; he has said that, and he means it,” Ibe explained.

“As a democrat, he subscribes to the universality and constitutionality of the freedom of association, which is one of the pillars of democracy, without which democracy would be meaningless.”

Ibe added that Atiku remains fully committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has no intentions of leaving the party.

We have addressed the issues about coalition, and remember that we had a statement to that effect; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is not leaving the PDP, and he has said that clearly.

“As for those talking about him leaving the PDP, we don’t know where they are getting that from,” he added.

KanyiDaily recalls that Ifeanyi Okowa and all PDP members in Delta state recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
