Delta State Police Command has began an investigation into the death of Mrs. Shimitte Bello, the Special Adviser on Trade and Export to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

KanyiDaily recalls that Shimite Winifred Bello’s death was announced via social media on Monday, April 21, 2025.
The exact cause of her death is still unclear, but some people pointed fingers at her husband, Pastor Love, as being involved in alleged domestic violence.
The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed Shimite’s death, saying she was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.
While the police haven’t arrested her husband, Edafe said they’ve placed him in protective custody.
According to Edafe, Pastor Love was the one who reported his wife’s death to the authorities.
He also revealed that the husband expressed concern over threats from Shimitte’s family, fearing they might come after him.
Edafe said, “We didn’t arrest her husband. He is in protective custody.
“The husband was the one who called to say that his wife died early this morning, that he is receiving threats from the wife’s family and that there is fear that they want to attack him.
“It was based on that ground that we went to his house and got him out and took him into custody for his own safety.”
However, the situation took another turn when members of Shimitte’s family officially accused the husband, saying they suspect foul play in Shimitte Bello’s death.
Edafe explained that the police are treating the matter seriously and will continue investigating.
“The family came this morning to lodge an official complaint against the husband that they suspect that it was the husband that killed her. So, on that ground, we are still investigating,” he said.
The police spokesperson an said an autopsy will be carried out to determine the actual cause of death and whether it was natural or suspicious.
“In cases like this, it is only an autopsy that will determine whether it was natural or if there was something else,” he added.
KanyiDaily also reported how 24-year-old singer, Paul Obukowho, recently died while in police custody after allegedly being tortured by officers in Delta.
