Rivers Women Stage Another Protest In Port Harcourt, Call for Fubara’s Reinstatement [Photos]

Rivers Women United for Sim (RWUS) held a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt on Thursday, demanding the return of peace in Rivers State and the reinstatement of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The women, who came out in large numbers, described Rivers as a peaceful state and urged President Bola Tinubu to step in and resolve the ongoing political crisis.

They also called for all suspended elected officials to be reinstated, saying Governor Fubara had done nothing wrong to warrant his suspension.

The group made it clear they still fully support the suspended governor.

Since Fubara’s suspension in March, women across the state have been regularly holding protests and rallies.

Earlier this month, on April 11, another group of women marched through the Aba Road area in Port Harcourt, demanding that Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, be reinstated.

That protest stretched from the busy road to the Rivers State Government House, with women holding signs that read: “Bring back Fubara”, “Save our democracy”, “Is the law different for Rivers State?”, and “God of justice, arise for Rivers State.”

Singing protest songs, the women—many identifying as mothers and wives—pleaded with President Tinubu to lift Fubara’s suspension and restore democratic order in the state.
