Tinubu Returning To Nigeria Today After Three Weeks – Presidency

President Bola Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria today after spending nearly three weeks in Europe on a “working visit.”

His return was announced on Monday by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Onanuga wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return home today.”

Tinubu had left Abuja on April 2 for Paris, where he was scheduled to spend two weeks. However, he has now been away for 19 days.

During his absence, the country has witnessed a rise in violent attacks and kidnappings, especially in Plateau and Benue states.

Several opposition figures have criticized the president’s extended stay abroad.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said the country is suffering while its leader is away.

Similarly, Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, called on Tinubu to cut short his trip due to the worsening security situation.

In response, the presidency maintained that Tinubu has remained in touch with top government officials throughout his trip.

It was also confirmed that after his stay in Paris, he traveled to London sometime before April 17.

Now, after almost three weeks away, Tinubu is expected back in the country.

Meanwhile, Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, calling it the worst and most corrupt in Nigeria’s history.
