19-Year-Old Crossdresser, Mohammed Umar Arrested In Adamawa Church

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old crossdresser, Mohammed Umar, after he was found wandering around the LCCN Church in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area.

Mohammed Umar, who lives on Abuja Road in Yola South, was reportedly acting suspiciously within the church compound and was dressed in clothing typically worn by women.

The arrest happened on Monday, May 18, 2025, after a concerned individual, Sunday Andrawus, alerted the Ngurore Divisional Police about Umar’s unusual behavior around the church.

Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrest and said the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered that the case be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for further investigation.

The Command said it remains committed to ensuring public safety, Public order and encourages residents to keep vigilant and give timely report of suspicious movement to the Police.
