A young woman, believed to be a commercial sex worker, was found dead in a drainage along OGTV Road in Abeokuta, Ogun State, with her private parts removed in what appears to be a ritual killing.
It was gathered that residents of the area discovered the body on Tuesday morning and alerted the police.
According to Punch, a local source who spoke anonymously due to the disturbing nature of the incident, said the woman’s body was dumped in a gutter and her private part had been cut off.
“A lady was found lifeless on Tuesday in a gutter along OGTV Road, Abeokuta. She was suspected to have been used for a ritual; her private part was missing.
“The police came around and took her body to the State Hospital Morgue in Ijaiye,” the source said.
While the police spokesperson for Ogun State, Omolola Odutola, had yet to issue a statement at the time of reporting, a senior security officer in the area confirmed that the victim was a known sex worker.
According to the officer, the woman’s friends revealed that she was picked up by a man from their regular spot in Oke-Ilewo the night before she was found dead.
The officer disclosed that the lady’s body showed signs of violence, with machete wounds on her neck and hands, and her private part had been removed.
“The lady was a commercial sex worker. Her friends said she was picked up by one man at their spot in Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo.
“She had machete wounds on her neck and her hands, and her private part was cut off,” the officer said.
KanyiDaily had also reported how a suspected commercial sex worker, simply identified as Chisom, was found dead in a brothel along the old market road in Onitsha, Anambra State.
