Bandits Ambush Police Vehicle In Katsina, Kill Inspector And Injure Another Officer

A police officer has been killed and another injured after suspected bandits ambushed a police patrol vehicle in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

It was gathered that the attack took place around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, near the Government Science Secondary School along the Kankara–Kafi Road.

The police team was reportedly on a farm clearance operation when they came under sudden gunfire.

According to security sources, the attackers opened fire on the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team, leading to a gun battle.

“As a result of the exchange, Inspector Yahaya Bello, was fatally wounded and later confirmed d3ad at the General Hospital Kankara by a medical doctor,” a source told Security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

“Another officer, ASP Sani Suleiman, attached to 27 PMF Katsina, sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital, where he is reported to be responding positively.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Kwara Police Command previously confirmed that two of its officers were killed by gunmen at a mining site in Oreke-Okeigbo, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
