Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has confirmed that a 15-year-old boy was accidentally shot dead by his father in Iye Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government Area.

Eribo explained that the tragic incident took place on the family’s farm where the father, whose name has not been made public, had taken his son along for routine work.
Due to repeated monkey invasions on his crops, the man brought a firearm to protect his farmland.
While working, he spotted movement in a tree and, thinking it was a monkey, fired a shot. Sadly, it was his son in the tree, and the bullet struck him fatally.
The boy died on the spot, and the father was immediately arrested.
According to Eribo, the man is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
KanyiDaily also reported that a man, Adamu Muhammed Tenimu caused a stir at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State, after he fainted upon hearing that his wife had given birth to triplets—all girls.
