Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly turned down a major offer from Turkish side Galatasaray, who were ready to activate his €75 million release clause and offer him a generous salary package.
After a successful loan spell in Galatasaray where Osimhen netted 37 goals in all competitions, the club were keen to sign him permanently.
According to The Peoples Person, Galatasaray was willing to meet his full release clause without hesitation in hopes of keeping him.
But Osimhen has said “no” to the move, a decision that may benefit Manchester United, who remain seriously interested in signing the 26-year-old forward.
Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Osimhen is still hoping for a Premier League transfer, though no deal has been reached.
According to Gazzetta, Osimhen is “dreaming” of a Premier League move, with the publication noting that “there is no agreement between his desires (the Premier) and reality.”
With his loan now over, the Nigerian star has returned to Napoli where the Italian club has no plans to include him in their squad for the upcoming season and is instead waiting for serious transfer offers.
Manchester United are currently seen as his top Premier League option, but their financial situation could make it difficult to meet Osimhen’s demands.
Victor Osimhen’s expected annual salary of €12 million is said to be a sticking point, and it’s uncertain whether United can also afford the €75 million release clause.
Corriere del Mezzogiorno, via United in Focus, claimed that United’s “burning magnetism” could still be enough to draw Osimhen to Old Trafford, even though the team won’t be playing European football next season.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Osimhen’s €75 million clause remains active until July 15, meaning interested clubs outside of Italy have a short window to make a formal move.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal are said to be offering a jaw-dropping €40 million per year to sign him, but Osimhen hasn’t accepted.
Sources close to the player say he remains focused on joining a Premier League team, keeping his options open despite the riches on offer elsewhere.
For now, Osimhen continues to bide his time, hoping his Premier League dream becomes a reality, even if it means turning down massive offers from elsewhere.
KanyiDaily recalls Victor Osimhen previously agreed to personal terms with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, a big-money transfer.
