Speaking in an interview on Afia TV, Edochie explained that many Igbo people have a strong sense of loyalty and are quick to cut off anyone who betrays their trust.
According to him, this makes it hard for them to maintain the kind of political alliances needed to survive in a field where betrayal is common.
The actor believes this mindset is rooted in Igbo culture, which places a high value on honesty and trust, adding that this inability to overlook political treachery often puts Igbo politicians at a disadvantage.
He said, “An Igbo man is not a good politician. And I will tell you why, people who are used to politics or the treachery that characterised politics, can overlook a lot of things.
“But the Igbo man is not constituted to condole treachery a second time. If you hurt the Igbo man once in politics, he will never give you an opportunity to hurt him again. He will recoil himself. That’s the average Igbo man.
“The Igbo man is really not constituted to sustain political treachery. The moment you exhibit treachery in your involvement with an Igbo man, they cut you off. That’s it.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Pete Edochie recently expressed a strong stance against men who resort to violence against women due to mere provocation.
