Abdulkadir, the eldest son of the late Emir, becomes the 16th ruler of the Emirate, taking over after the death of his father, Ibrahim Bello, who died on July 25, 2025, after serving as Emir for ten years.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement by Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, the Secretary to the State Government.
He explained that the appointment followed recommendations from the Gusau Emirate kingmakers and complied with traditional customs and legal procedures.
Before his new role, Alhaji Abdulkadir Bello held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau.
Governor Lawal congratulated the new Emir and encouraged him to continue the proud legacy of his family, particularly as a descendant of the respected Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.
He also urged the Emir to promote peace, unity, and development in the Emirate and beyond.
