The group said they are being owed for projects completed since 2024 and insisted on immediate payment.
During the protest, the contractors displayed placards with messages such as, “You cannot grow the economy by starving its builders”, National Assembly is folding their arms watching Nigerian contractors suffer injustice”.
The demonstration prevented staff of the ministry from gaining access, and even the finance minister’s convoy was stopped at the gate. The minister eventually gained entry through another route.
When the permanent secretary came out to speak with the group, the protesters refused to listen, insisting that only the minister himself could address them.
The Nigerian contractors vowed to continue their protest until all outstanding payments are settled.
