The order came after both were arrested by the Kano State Censorship Board for posting videos the board described as “immoral and inappropriate.”
According to the board, the viral videos showed Wushirya shirtless and engaging in affectionate behaviour with Yar Guda, a woman with dwarfism, which they said violated state laws against the creation or sharing of obscene and sexually suggestive material.
Following his arrest, Mai Wushirya was arriagned before the court and remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly producing and circulating the videos.
His co-creator, Yar Guda, was also questioned by the board’s enforcement team before the matter was transferred to court.
Delivering her judgment on Monday, Magistrate Halima Wali instructed the Hisbah Board to ensure that the two social media figures proceed with marriage arrangements.
She warned that failing to do so within 60 days would be considered contempt of court.
The judge also directed the chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise the enforcement of the ruling.
In recent months, the Kano State government has increased its clampdown on online content creators accused of promoting immorality or violating censorship rules.
KanyiDaily recalls that another Kano court had ordered the remand of a TikToker, Umar Hisham Fagge, popularly known as Tsulange, for bathing in public while dressed in women’s underwear.
