Tompolo Donates ₦10 Billion As Oborevwori Launches Delta Security Trust Fund

High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, has pledged ₦10 billion to the Delta State Security Trust Fund to show support for improving peace and security in Delta State.

Tompolo, who is the chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), made the announcement during the official launch of the fund at the Government House in Asaba.

The launch event drew several dignitaries, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, top government officials, security chiefs, business leaders, and community representatives.

The ceremony, chaired by Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, also featured Zenith Bank Founder, Jim Ovia, as the Special Guest of Honour.

Tompolo made a remarkable ₦10 billion donation, one of the largest private contributions ever made to a state security initiative in Nigeria.

His contribution highlights his commitment to peace and stability in the Niger Delta, and the growing partnership between the private sector and the government in tackling security challenges.

Governor Oborevwori explained that while the Security Trust Fund was first established by law in 2013, his administration was revamping it to create a more sustainable and transparent system for mobilizing resources to strengthen security efforts across the state.

He said the renewed Fund would focus on providing modern surveillance technology, patrol vehicles, and communication tools, as well as supporting the training of security personnel and community vigilante groups across Delta’s 25 local government areas.

“Security is not the sole responsibility of government — it is everyone’s business,” Oborevwori declared.

“Without security, development cannot thrive, businesses cannot flourish, and investors will hesitate to commit their resources. This Trust Fund represents our shared commitment to peace, public safety, and sustainable growth.”

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, chairman of the occasion, described the initiative as a turning point for the state, praising the governor’s leadership for making Delta one of Nigeria’s most secure and investment-friendly regions.

“Our Governor is both a driver and an enabler of progress. While others talk, he just gets it done,” he said.

Aig-Imoukhuede also pledged ₦100 million on behalf of himself and his wife, expressing optimism that the Fund could grow to ₦100 billion by 2025.

“This launch does not end today — it begins today. Together, we will continue to strengthen the foundation for Delta’s safety and growth,” he added.

Zenith Bank’s founder, Jim Ovia, commended the governor’s foresight, describing the Trust Fund as a forward-thinking move that would build confidence among investors and residents.

“Security is the foundation of peace, prosperity, and business growth. This Fund unites stakeholders to build a safer and more stable Delta,” Ovia said, promising continued partnership with the state.

Representing Tompolo at the event, Tantita Security’s Chief Keston Pondi described the ₦10 billion donation as an investment in peace and development, reaffirming the company’s dedication to protecting lives and property.

“What we are launching today goes beyond financial contribution — it is a collective investment in Delta’s stability and future,” Pondi noted.

Delivering the keynote address, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Marvel Akpoyibo, emphasized that no society can achieve lasting development without adequate security.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Delta Security Trust Fund, Mr. Samuel Osasa, said the renewed initiative would help modernize and strengthen the state’s security framework.

He added that the Fund had already supported various agencies with logistics, equipment, and new facilities for the State Police Command under the Delta State Criminal Justice Law 2022.

KanyiDaily recalls that EFCC had vowed to take action against Chief Government Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, over the allegations of Naira abuse.
