The heated moment unfolded on Arise TV’s “Morning Show” on October 7 when the Minister appeared on the program to discuss progress on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project.
During the conversation, David Umahi accused Rufai of making a disrespectful remark in a previous broadcast, where the journalist allegedly said the Minister had struggled to explain the project’s cost per kilometre.
Umahi dismissed Rufai’s line of questioning as “nonsensical,” saying it was improper to demand such figures from him.
In his remarks, Rufai alleged that Umahi had previously reported him to President Bola Tinubu for questioning the details of the project.
Clearly angered by the claim, Umahi fired back, saying, “You are too small for me to report you to the President? Who are you? For me to report you to Mr President”
Rufai Oseni, however, stood his ground, insisting there was video proof of the incident.
“I have empirical evidence at the commissioning of the project where you mentioned the questions I asked you to the President. That was you reporting me officially to the President. So you do not need to dilly-dally. I don’t talk without facts. When I have my facts I talk,” he said.
The exchange grew more intense as both men traded words until the Minister eventually told the anchor to “shut up.”
KanyiDaily recalls that David Umahi recently expressed his belief that President Bola Tinubu will lead the country for eight years.
