Taraba Speaker, Lawmakers Dumps PDP For APC Ahead Of Governor Kefas’ Defection

His defection happened on Monday, just hours before Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas is expected to also move to the APC.

All principal officers of the assembly, along with every PDP lawmaker in the chamber, followed Bonzena in switching parties.

Videos circulating online show the lawmakers removing their old caps and replacing them with ones carrying President Bola Tinubu’s emblem.

They were also given brooms, the official symbol of the APC.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Governor Kefas confirmed he would be dumping the PDP for the ruling party, saying the move was tied to “the destiny of the Taraba people.”

Kefas added that he expects a large crowd when the formal event takes place.

“There is going to be a major shift and alignment on November 19. I will officially transition from PDP to APC. It is a movement that has to do with the destiny of Taraba people,” he said.

Governor Agbu Kefas becomes the latest PDP governor set to cross over to the APC in 2025.

KanyiDaily recalls that Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
