Adamawa Government Imposes 24-Hour Curfew On Lamurde LGA Due To Violence

Adamawa State Government has announced a 24-hour curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area and nearby communities after another outbreak of violence involving the Bachama community and suspected attackers from the Chobo community.

This latest incident happened less than a week after Governor Umaru Fintiri held a security meeting with leaders from both sides in an attempt to restore peace.

Earlier in the year, when the conflict first escalated, the governor visited the affected areas, where homes and property had been destroyed, and urged both communities to stop the hostility.

Local reports indicate that the renewed violence began on Sunday night, December 7, 2025, when armed groups stormed Waduku, Rigange, Tingo, and neighbouring villages.

Residents said the attackers carried weapons that appeared more advanced than those used by the security personnel stationed in the area.

Many people fled as gunfire spread across the communities.

In response, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo, sent more officers to the affected locations to enforce the curfew and stabilise the situation.

He called on residents to avoid actions that could worsen the crisis and to support efforts aimed at restoring peace.

KanyiDaily also reported how a phone repairer, Alkasum Ibrahim was allegedly beaten to death by a Nigerian soldier identified as Lance Corporal Ahmada A. in Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa State.
