“No Light, No Life” – Lagos Residents Protest Over Lack Of Electricity Supply [Video]

Residents in Lagos staged a protest on Thursday over the continued power outages affecting many parts of the state.

Anger over the unreliable electricity supply pushed people onto the streets, where they voiced their dissatisfaction with what they described as a failing power system.

In a video circulating on social media, a group of mostly young Nigerians were seen marching through the Fadeyi area while carrying placards and chanting.

The protesters said the unstable power supply is severely affecting their daily lives and “killing” small businesses that rely on electricity to operate.

Some of the placards bore inscriptions such as “No more estimated billing,” “No more epileptic power supply,” “No light, no life, no nation,” and “You’re destroying, killing so many businesses; give us regular light.”

During the protest, one of the demonstrators was heard shouting that Nigerians were not demanding too much but simply asking for consistent electricity.

We are not asking for too much,” one protester said in the footage. “Make them give us light!”

The demonstration in Lagos comes amid growing complaints from different parts of the country about the persistent problems in Nigeria’s power sector.
