“I Big Pass Your Papa, Fool At 40” – Wizkid Fires Back At Seun Kuti

Nigerian superstar Wizkid has broken his silence on the growing online dispute between Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti and his fanbase, popularly known as Wizkid FC.

KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti had accused Wizkid’s fans of disrespecting his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, by repeatedly comparing Wizkid to the legendary Afrobeat pioneer.

Seun objected to claims that Wizkid is “the new Fela,” saying such statements diminish his father’s influence, beliefs, and historical importance.

The musician expressed frustration over the comparisons, arguing that no contemporary artist should be placed on the same level as Fela.

He described the claims as an attempt to distort history and accused Wizkid’s supporters of trying to take over Fela’s image, which he said was disrespectful and should stop.

Wizkid responded via his Instagram story by reposting a video of a woman angrily criticising Seun Kuti in Yoruba.

While Wizkid did not add any personal comment, the post was widely seen as his reaction to the ongoing backlash.

In the video, the woman lashed out at Seun, accusing him of constantly provoking Wizkid’s fans and behaving irrationally.

She questioned why his family had not intervened, describing his actions as days-long erratic behaviour, claiming that Wizkid’s global success has helped keep Fela’s legacy relevant among younger audiences.

She also mocked Seun’s inheritance, suggesting that despite Fela’s greatness, his son had little to show for it.

The woman noted that Wizkid even has Fela’s image tattooed on his body and expressed disappointment in Seun, saying she once believed he was wiser.

She said, “Seun Kuti’s family, is this how you will be looking at this bro until he enters the market because he has been using seven days and seven nights to act insane?

“You are cursing people’s children that much; you and your father will be unfortunate. If not for Wizkid, do you think anyone would care about your father or do you think we’re still in 1990?

‘Your father succeeded, yet you’re this miserable? Is it only pant and weeed you inherited from him? Wizkid literally has his tattoo on his body. I used to think you were wise. You’re finished!”

Wizkid later shared another message on his Instagram story, where he boldly claimed to be bigger than Fela, using harsh language directed at Seun.

“I Big pass your papa. Wetin you won do? Fool at 40,’ Wizkid wrote.

He followed this up with a sarcastic post on X (formerly Twitter), mocking the debate and suggesting that the argument had dragged on long enough.

Wizkid added, “Ok everybody better pass Wizkid! Can we all sleep now?’

The exchange has continued to spark strong reactions online, with fans on both sides weighing in on the clash between legacy, influence, and modern success in Nigerian music.

KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti also accused Wizkid of stealing “Big Bird,” a nickname he has used for years.
