Atiku Advises His Supporters And Peter Obi’s Camp Against Insulting Each Other

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged supporters of opposition figures to stop trading insults, warning that internal attacks only help the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Taking to his X page on Tuesday, Atiku said anyone who attacks either him or Peter Obi does not have the best interests of the opposition coalition, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), or the country at heart.

Atiku’s comments were in response to a post by X user Novie Everest, who claimed that Atiku’s supporters often criticise Peter Obi while expecting the former vice presidentto be spared similar treatment.

“Atiku’s people want to insult Peter Obi without Atiku getting the heat back. Maybe they feel Atiku deserves respect and Peter Obi does not,” the X user wrote.

In his reaction, Atiku described the ongoing online fights among ADC supporters as a form of internal conflict that only strengthens the APC.

Atiku accused the ruling party of thriving on division and working to protect what he called a damaging status quo.

The former vice president rejected that view and stressed that opposition figures and their supporters need unity to succeed.

According to him, insults directed at either Obi or himself undermine the coalition’s goal and only serve the interests of the APC

He added that the opposition stands a better chance when its members work together rather than fight among themselves.

“Dear Everest, Anyone who insults Obi or Atiku does not mean well for the leaders, the Coalition ADC and for Nigeria and Nigerians,’ Atiku said.

“The only people who benefit from such a civil war are the APC urban bandits who want to maintain the satanic status quo. We are better together.’

Atiku and Obi are both part of the ADC, a coalition formed to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general election.

However, supporters of both men have frequently clashed online over who should emerge as the coalition’s presidential candidate and who should be chosen as a running mate.

Some of Obi’s supporters have even threatened to withdraw their backing if he accepts a vice-presidential position.

KanyiDaily recalls that Atiku Abubakar recently reacted to his son’s move to the APC, saying the decision does not bother him and should be seen as a personal choice.
