The new phase began today, January 6, 2026, after the first phase ended on December 10, 2025.
INEC had first opened the online pre-registration portal on August 18, 2025, and later began physical registration at approved centres across the country on August 25, 2025.
In a statement issued in December, INEC said that 9,891,801 Nigerians started online pre-registration during the first phase.
Out of this number, 2,572,054 people were able to complete the process as of November 28, 2025. This included 1,503,832 people who finished online and 1,068,222 who completed registration in person.
INEC explained that the break between the first and second phases was used to carry out activities required by law, such as displaying the voters’ register for people to make corrections or objections.
“In accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, the display of the register of voters for claims and objections was held from December 15 to 21, 2025, at local government area offices where the CVR exercise was conducted,” INEC said.
The commission encouraged eligible citizens to use this new window to register, change their polling units, or update their personal details.
It also advised those who already registered in the first phase to keep checking their information, report any mistakes, and object to the inclusion of ineligible or deceased persons.
INEC added that voter registration is still on hold in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory due to ongoing electoral processes there. New dates for resumption in those areas will be announced later.
