Nigeria Takes Delivery Of Military Supplies From US

Nigeria has received military equipment from the United States to support the country’s security agencies in their ongoing operations.

The delivery was confirmed on Tuesday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in a post shared on X.

According to AFRICOM, the newly delivered supplies are meant to strengthen Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts and improve security operations.

The command said the support is part of a wider plan to deepen military cooperation with partners across West Africa.

The move comes shortly after a US air strike carried out on Christmas Day against ISWAP fighters in Sokoto.

At the time, US President Donald Trump warned that more action could follow against extremist groups accused of attacking Christians.

In October 2025, Trump had designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern,” citing claims of violence against Christians.

He also described the country as “disgraceful” and warned that the US could take military action if such killings continued.

Nigeria has continued to struggle with attacks from armed groups in different parts of the country.

At the time of filing this report, the federal government has not released an official statement on the latest military assistance from the United States.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently announced that Nigeria will soon receive four attack helicopters from the United States as part of efforts to tackle rising insecurity.
