Police Arrest Three Suspects Who Murdered A Housewife And Her Six Children In Kano

Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly killing a woman and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano.

A statement released on Sunday said the arrests were made after intelligence-led operations, led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and carried out at the orders of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspects were captured during a night-long sting operation.

“Acting on credible intelligence, a team of crack operatives successfully apprehended three suspected masterminds behind the brutal killing of a housewife and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters,” Kiyawa said.

The arrested suspects were identified as Umar Auwalu, 23, from Sabuwar Gandu Quarters; Isyaku Yakubu, also known as Chebe, 40, from Sagagi Quarters; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, known as Wawo, 21, from Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters.

Police said Umar Auwalu, who is alleged to be the gang leader and a nephew of the deceased, admitted planning the attack.

“During interrogation, the principal suspect confessed to the crime and further admitted that the syndicate had been involved in several violent attacks in the recent past, including the killing and burning of two housewives at Tudun Yola Quarters,” the police spokesperson said.

Items seized from the suspects include blood-stained clothes, two phones belonging to the victims, a cutlass, a club (locally called gora), and some cash believed to have been stolen from the scene.

“These recoveries are critical to the ongoing investigation, which is still in progress,” Kiyawa added.

The police praised the officers who carried out the operation and thanked the public for their support.

“The Command assures the good people of Kano State that it remains fully committed to ensuring that all perpetrators of criminal acts are brought to justice,” the statement concluded.

The incident, which shocked residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, has led to widespread condemnation and renewed calls for communities to stay vigilant.

KanyiDaily also reported how an elderly man, Ladan Zubairu, was killed on Monday morning at the Yusuf Garko Mosque in the Maraba Quarters area of Kano.
