Police Arrest Woman Who Allegedly Hired Armed Robbers To Attack Her Boyfriend In Delta

Delta State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old woman, Jessica Anthony, for allegedly arranging a robbery against her boyfriend of two years.

The police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said that the woman and her boyfriend had been in a long-term relationship, separated at some point, and later got back together.

He said they were still close as recently as December 2025.

Edafe said the suspect, who was eager to get money from her boyfriend, teamed up with a friend to plan a fake robbery.

’She in connivance with her friend, went to one of the black spots in Warri, trying to locate one of the bad guys.

“They now told them that I want you to help me rob my boyfriend. I am not sure if she told them it was her boyfriend,

“Unfortunately for her, the person she met happened to be the leader of the community who has been helping the police ensure that these bad guys are flushed out of the community.

“Unfortunately for her also, he happened to know the guy because he asked for the guy’s picture and it was someone he knew.

“He quickly contacted him to say look, someone has contacted us to come and rob you, the person did not know that I am the leader of this community. The boyfriend now said please play along’.’

According to the police, the supposed robbers demanded N65,000 from the woman and her friend to buy equipment for the operation, and the money was paid.

They played along. She took them to the estate where the boyfriend lives, showed them the house of the boyfriend.

“It was when they were coming out of the estate that the boyfriend alerted the security and they were all arrested and opened up”

During questioning, the woman reportedly admitted that she planned the robbery so she could later demand N7 million from her boyfriend.

She claimed she needed the money to cover her sister’s medical expenses and also knew her boyfriend owned gold jewellery that could be sold for a large sum.

The boyfriend told the police that he owns two gold items, valued at N4.2 million and N8.9 million respectively.

KanyiDaily also reported how police arrested a 23-year-old woman and her boyfriend, 24-year-old, for staging a fake kidnapping in an attempt to extort money from her family.
