Tinubu Approves Posting Of Ambassadors-Designate To US, UK, France, Turkey

President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the group of 68 that the Senate confirmed last December.

This was made known in a statement on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

The statement said Tinubu has approved the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke to France, and Colonel Lateef Are to the United States.

The President also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, who previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea, as the high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Former Kebbi State Governor Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman has been approved as ambassador to Turkey.

Onanuga noted that President Tinubu is expected to begin a state visit to Turkey next week.

In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tinubu asked that the ministry inform the governments of the four countries about the new ambassador-designates, following the usual diplomatic process.

Earlier in December, Tinubu had sent a request to the Senate asking for confirmation of 65 ambassadorial nominees, including 34 career and 31 non-career ambassadors and high commissioners.

On December 18, 2025, the Senate confirmed all 64 career and non-career ambassadors nominated by Tinubu after reviewing a report from the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs.

The Senate had previously approved three non-career nominees—Lateef Kayode Are, Aminu Dalhatu, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke—bringing the total number of confirmed ambassadors to 67.

The non-career list includes well-known political figures such as former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and former presidential aide Reno Omokri.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu also administered the oath of office to Ayo Omidiran as the new chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), along with 37 commissioners drawn from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
