US Files Drug And Terrorism Charges Against Venezuela’s President Maduro

The Trump administration announced on Saturday that detained Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and his wife will be prosecuted in the United States on drug and terrorism-related charges.

US Attorney General Pamela Bondi wrote on X that Maduro and his wife, who US officials say were taken out of Venezuela by American forces, “will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.”

She noted that both already have cases pending in New York federal court related to accusations of “Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy”.

This statement came shortly after President Donald Trump said US forces had carried out a major operation in Venezuela and captured Maduro.

Trump posted that the mission was conducted with the help of US law enforcement agencies.

He also said he planned to hold a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, where he has been spending the Christmas and New Year holidays.

This comes months after the U.S Government doubled its reward for information leading to the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, raising it from $25 million to $50 million.
