34 People Killed As Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Attack Kebbi Communities

At least 34 people were reportedly killed on Wednesday after suspected Lakurawa terrorists carried out coordinated attacks in several communities in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

It was gathered that the violence started on Wednesday morning and continued into the afternoon, as gunmen moved through different villages.

Many families were left mourning, while others ran away to protect themselves.

Security analyst Bakastine described the incident as “one of the deadliest single-day incidents in recent months in the area”.

“The attackers moved systematically from village to village, targeting civilians with brutal efficiency,” Bakastine said..

The community of Mamunu suffered the highest number of deaths, with 16 people killed.

In Awashaka, five young men lost their lives, while three people were killed in Masama.

Two residents each were reported killed in Gorin Dena, Kamzo, Dan Mai Rago, Tungar Bature, and Tungar Tsoho.

As night approached, fear spread across the wider Kangiwa area, with many residents worried that more attacks could happen.

Bakastine said the incident shows that security in Kebbi North Senatorial District is getting worse.

He noted that residents are urging both local and state governments to act quickly.
